Wondering how to get started? A new drop-down menu on the left side of the Glean Assistant chat box allows you to choose between 'company knowledge' and 'world knowledge' modes.
- 'World knowledge' mode retrieves real-time information from the web.
- 'Company knowledge' mode retrieves only internal company knowledge.
Glean features quick and easy toggling between company and world knowledge for any given query. This enables you to leverage separate Assistant responses involving different sources without having to engage in an entirely new session.
In world knowledge mode, Glean agentically determines if real-time internet data or LLM data is needed based on each request. If additional control is needed, you can manually decide if Glean should use exclusively web search data.

Glean’s knowledge toggle makes integrating both company and world data into your workflows simple. For example, let’s say you’re interested in better understanding a customer’s complete journey with your company and current relevant industry trends, then consolidating those sources to create comprehensive messaging for an outreach.
