Glean was recently recognized as a leading knowledge discovery solution by IDC in the 2023–2024 MarketScape report. For us, it’s an exciting moment that reinforces what we here at Glean already know – that our exceptional foundation in enterprise search and rapidly expanding generative AI capabilities have resulted in a knowledge discovery solution for enterprise workers that’s well ahead of the curve.

What enterprises need today and tomorrow

One of the first things IDC noted regarding Glean after examining our product and conversing with customers was the exceptional accuracy and relevancy of our product. On top of mind was also how well-adopted Glean was within organizations. As an out-of-the-box knowledge discovery and generative AI tool that deeply understands how each organization works best, Glean’s intuitive application has resulted in increased satisfaction and decreased frustration for employees across the board.

Simplicity and security were also some of the reasons why IDC chose Glean as a leading knowledge discovery software of choice. As a fully managed service, customers don’t have to worry about complex manual deployment and maintenance. Glean takes care of the process through turnkey setup, enabling users to get started right away with powerful enterprise-ready search and generative AI that only gets better over time.

Glean’s strong security, data privacy, and access permissions capabilities were also a considerable factor in IDC’s deliberations. Generative AI and enterprise search need to be airtight when it comes to data security. As we discovered in a recent research survey, concerns regarding data governance and IP risks remain as 3 of the top 5 leading concerns from IT leaders when it comes to implementing new tools like generative AI. Glean is always permissions-aware, and regularly performs crawls to ensure changes to file access and availability are up to date.

All these factors have helped us deliver a truly enterprise-ready knowledge discovery tool that's providing a serious competitive edge for our users – enabling them to securely uncover and leverage the immense volumes of information previously laying dormant in their databases. Glean enables users to make the most of best-in-class retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and knowledge graph capabilities without spending years building an internal solution of their own, or spending millions experimenting with a multitude of third party solutions that need endless manual tuning.

Glean also comes complete with critical capabilities that all knowledge discovery tools need to be enterprise-ready, like:

The journey onwards

It’s been an incredible opportunity to build Glean into what it is today – in just a short amount of time, we’ve propelled it into a market-leading solution that’s outperforming established leaders in the space. New capabilities in generative AI, and a shift in mindset as organizations realize just how critical knowledge discovery and search is for worker productivity, have poised us to lead within this industry.

We’ve come a long way from the early conceptualizations of Glean during my days at Google, but there’s still so much to do and build. We’re developing what I believe will be a true enterprise AI platform for every workplace. Next up on our roadmap? Tools to build custom generative AI experiences tailored for each organization, grounded in their unique company knowledge.

We’re growing and learning at a relentless pace – and just like how we reinvented the search industry, we’ll be helping the world of enterprise AI march onwards with a secure, comprehensive, and intuitive platform that embodies our vision of an AI assistant of the future.
